Insomnia and Sleep Issues

Good sleep is fundamental to our health, and insomnia is a common concern. This can manifest as difficulty falling asleep, dream-disturbed sleep, waking frequently during the night, and waking up feeling tired. There are often a combination of causes for this - in addition to sleep hygiene and blue light from our devices, sleep disruption is often rooted in deeper physiological and emotional patterns.

The first thing I tell all of my patients is to reduce screen brightness, avoid looking at screens at least an hour before bed, and turning on 'Night Mode' so that your screen projects a warm light, rather than a harsh blue light which blocks the production of the sleep hormone melatonin.

In addition to other simple protocols, acupuncture and reiki can help to provide balance and reduce the physical and mental stress that often underlie poor sleep.
